Light chairs with tall backs, broad parasols and loose accessories can become unsafe in strong airflow. A low centre of gravity, perforated or woven backs, a stable footprint and weighted bases are better starting points. Keep the route at least as wide as the open door and avoid placing climbable furniture against the railing. Check folding locks, table movement and cushion fixings at delivery. If a fixed shade or pergola is considered, confirm building rules and the suitability of the mounting surface before treating it as part of the furniture plan.
Resolve shade, textiles and storage together
Water repellency alone is not enough for an outdoor fabric; UV resistance, colour fastness, quick drying and removable covers shape everyday use. Cushion inserts should drain and seams should not remain wet. A ventilated cabinet near the terrace is more orderly than bagging every cushion, but airflow inside the cabinet matters. Position shade according to the actual sun angle and ensure it can be retracted safely when wind rises. This makes the balcony useful from morning coffee through evening dining rather than for one short part of the day.
Set the delivery and care plan before ordering
Compare lift, stair, balcony-door and turning dimensions with the product and its packaging, especially for modular sections. At delivery, inspect coating, weave, leg stability, fasteners and textile seams in daylight. Seasonal fresh-water cleaning, checking moving connections and drying textiles fully prevent small defects from becoming expensive replacements.
